Greetings!
One of the best parts of our job is tasting great wines at all price points. Often we taste exceptional wines that we think are perfect candidates for any collector. Whether for you or a loved one who wants to add to a collection, The Savory Grape's Collector's Club emails let you know about these "special" selections that come our way.
Separate from our weekly e-newsletter, the Collector's Club emails are sent out periodically, whenever we receive wines that are highly allocated, collectible, and usually higher priced. These are wines which you will probably put a way for a few years or more. In these emails, we provide you with tasting notes, ratings and the wine's aging abilities. If you want to know about these collectibles and be included on these emails, please respond to this email with Collector in the subject line, or let one of us at the shop know. We will add you immediately to the database.
Like we said, we enjoy tasting at all price levels. So if you want to focus on everyday wines, come join us this weekend as we showcase new selections, which include Chile's Misiones de Rengo line that we have found and truly liked.
Note: Because we continue to receive such great responses from the WSJ article "Getting Help with Wine Choices," in which TSG was featured, we will extend the promotion to you as a newsletter subscriber - purchase a case of the featured wines (mixed or same) and receive 15% off instead of our 10% case discount until the end of July. Enjoy! | |

"Stay-cation" July 20 Wine Tasting. If you don't have a vacation planned this summer, then let us help you with our "Stay-cation" wine tasting on Monday, July 20 at 7 PM at Main Street Coffee (MSC) in EG. During the evening, we will bring you wines from places you wish you were vacationing this summer since you can't go there yourself. For example, you may sip a white from a sunny, far-away place showing tropical fruit flavors or wines that make you clearly visualize destinations. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by contacting TSG at 886-9463 or MSC at 885-8787. Tickets are limited.

This Week's Savory Selections (Arriving Wednesday)
2008 Misiones de Rengo Sauvignon Blanc, Chile. This Maule Valley Sauvignon Blanc is very hard to beat, especially for the price. Intense, fresh tropical fruit aromas of pineapple, white peach and tangerine flood the nose. The wonderful aromatics set you up for a juicy and fresh wine with bright acidity and long, flavorful finish. New Zealand SB fans will like this too! ($10.99)
2007 Misiones de Rengo Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile. With just a touch of Syrah blended in, Misiones de Rengo Cabernet Sauvignon sucks you in with inviting aromas of strawberries, berries and ripe plums with hints of mocha, caramel and chocolate. Excellent structure providing plenty of red fruit with toffee, vanilla, coffee and cinnamon notes give way to soft, sweet and round tannins making each sip better than the last. Silky and smooth describe this easily! ($10.99)
2007 Misiones de Rengo Carmenère, Chile. The Carmenère varietal becomes more popular every year, and after tasting this wine you'll know why. Expressive and intense aromas of wild flowers, coffee and a bit of smoke give way to subtle notes of mocha - ah, the tip of the ice berg. Just beyond the mouthwatering aromatics come lush flavors of black fruit and vanilla with hints of chocolate, toffee and a faint spice through the finish. If your making fajitas this summer, this is perfect for them. ($10.99)
2006 Wildekrans Cabernet Franc/Merlot, South Africa. Wildekrans (pronounced Vil de Krans) has long been known for its Pinotage. However the most recent vintage of the Cabernet Franc/Merlot just goes to show how good the estate really is. We tasted this months ago in Boston and it's now here. It displays spicy mocha aromas revealing a rich palate of dark berry fruit and caramel that finishes with a smooth, medium-bodied finish. This wine is superb with Filet Mignon, goulash, pasta with meat sauce and many other hearty dishes. ($15.99) |

Equally complex the palate delivers smooth velvety notes ripe red fruits, a hint of chocolate and a persistent, well-balanced aftertaste. A great everyday drinker at an everyday price. ($10.99)
Castillo Perelada Blanc Pescador, Spain. Blanc Pescador is made from a blend of Macabeo, Parellada and Xarello, the same grapes used to make the Spanish Sparkler Cava. Clean, crisp, fresh and dry with a light natural sparkle, Pescador offers flavors and aromas of vanilla, peach, green apple and citrus. Pleasant acidity, accompanied by a slight sparkle, make this wine a great match with shellfish and other seafood. ($9.49)
ENJOY!
