Greetings!

After many long months of exciting discussion on the future of The Savory Grape and how best we can meet the needs of our loyal clients, such as you, we have decided to move The Savory Grape from its current Main Street location to a new location within the East Greenwich Square, which includes Dave's Marketplace, at 1000 Division Road. The planned opening is October 1, or sooner if we can!Gaja

This is a fun and exciting time for us, and we are at this point of expansion because of you. Our new location will still have the ambiance and feel of a cozy wine cellar. You will still be greeted and served by our knowledgeable and friendly staff, and have the opportunity of tasting with us and vineyard guests at our weekend tastings.

At the new location, our goal is to enhance your shopping experience with us by offering more new products and services, coupled with ample, convenient parking. And for those who may frequent Dave's Marketplace, there is also the added convenience of 'one-stop shopping.'

During the next three months, we will provide you with updates, and as we get closer to opening at the new location, we'll let you know exactly when we will UNCORK. We look forward to continue raising our glasses with you for a long time. Thank you for your help in the continued success of The Savory Grape.

This Week's Savory Selections

Charles and Charles Rose2008 Charles and Charles Rosé, Washington State.  This Syrah Rosé, from the Wahluke Slope of Washington State, is the creation of Charles Bieler (a Frenchman who has been making Rosés in Provence, France, since 1992) and Charles Smith of K-Vintners, Magnificent Wine Co. and Charles Smith wines. The wine opens with aromas of berries and fresh summer fruit. Delicate fruit flavors give a nice tangy mouthfeel with a bone-dry, refreshing finish. We are hoping summer will appear with the arrival of this new delicious wine that just received 90 points in Wine Spectator. We loved it before we even knew of the WS rating! Foods: Blackened chicken with pasta lightly tossed in olive oil and pine nuts. ($12.99)

Guido2006 K-Vintners Guido, Washington State. Guido, a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Syrah, is an instant favorite among The Savory Grape Staff. Opening with exciting aromas of rose petals and cherry blossoms, Guido will awake your palate with black cherries, cedar, caramel and a hint of anise.  With only 140 cases made, this Italian feast in a bottle is something to scoop up while you can. All of Charles' wines are highly sought after and very well scored, 16 wines receiving 91-99 pts. from Robert Parker. ($40.99)

2006 Eos Estate Chardonnay, CA. People often come in and say ABC - Anything but Chardonnay. But this is NOT your typical Chardonnay. California's Paso Robles AVA is known for producing many great wines and the Eos Estate Chardonnay is no exception. Macintosh apples and light toasty oak aromas are balanced by subtle hints of pineapple and banana. A flavor and texture extravaganza breaks through on the palate with pineapple, mango and intermittent citrus, green apple and toasty oak peaking from behind. Foods: Poached salmon and grilled chicken breasts are a must with this. ($16.99)

Grooner2008 Grooner Grüner Veltliner, Austria.  We Love This! Produced by the so called "Pope of Grüner Veltliner," Meinhard Forstreiter, the Grooner Grüner is fresh, crisp and perfect for the warm weather. Tart green apple and citrus aromas lead to tropical flavors on the palate.Grooner has a wonderfully balanced acidity and is great for any occasion. Foods: Perfect with summer salads, grilled light fish and asparagus. ($13.49)

Cycles Syrah2006 Cycles Gladiator Syrah, Central Coast, CA.  The crimson-colored Cycles Gladiator 2006 Syrah begins with an intriguing blend of raspberry and wild plum aromas framed by fresh cracked pepper and lovely notes of oak. Decidedly rich, the mouth is ripe with big red fruit flavors layered over spice, tobacco and blueberry. This is an excellent match for duck, barbecued ribs, goat cheese as well as burritos and tacos. ($10.49)

Saturday, June 27, 3 to 7 PM -  Hello California!

Sean Minor Cab2006 Sean Minor 4B Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, CA. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 2% Petite Verdot from Napa create raspberry, cassis and cigar box aromas. Once in your mouth, the wine's raspberry fruit flavors and the combination of oak and tannin nuances create a well-balanced, rich and full-bodied wine that draws you in for more. And this was another great vintage for Napa Cab! ($18.99)

2006 Eos Estate Chardonnay, CA. Please see tasting notes above in this week's Savory Selections. ($16.99)
